Companionship, recreation and care Monday through Friday. A McLean Community Service where everyone has a good day. Not just a place to be, but a place to belong.
Many older adults need an enjoyable, secure place to spend their daytime hours-a safe, stimulating alternative to spending that time alone. The Adult Day Care program provides company, recreation and healthcare, as well as rehabilitation and counseling when needed. All this is provided in a pleasant environment with the added convenience of round-trip transportation.

The Adult Day Care Program includes:
- Planned activities such as cooking, music, field trips, exercise, discussion groups, arts & crafts, games, cards and educational programs
- Various special events such as prominent speakers, musical performances, entertainers, notable public figures
- Individualized care plans are created for each participant, customized for their specific needs and interests
- Personal care services including showers and hairdresser services, as needed
- Nutritious and delicious full-course noon-time dinners
- Healthy snacks
- Social interaction and making friends
- Group outings
- Health Services from staff nurses
- Nutritional counseling
- Nursing and Social Services
Who can benefit?
- Those who care for an elderly relative or spouse
- Older adults who have health problems
- Those who have difficulty getting out of their homes
- People who are alone during the day
- Adults who need assistance, supervision or support from injuries or strokes who may not be elderly

Monday through Friday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Extended hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Special arrangements can be coordinated to meet caregiver/family needs

How to make a referral
Phone the center and ask about the schedule that best meets your needs. Or you may email the director, Terry Dell, for more information or an application at Terry.Dell@mcleancare.org. Our center offers introductory programs at no charge, which will give you the opportunity to find out if our program works best for you and your family. You may want to ask to have your name on our mailing list to receive notices of special events and programs.
Cost
The Adult Day Care Program fee includes transportation to and from home. If there are financial concerns about enrollment, please contact the Director.
The State of Connecticut Home Care for Elders Program pays the full fees for participants within income guidelines, which are less restrictive than Medicaid. In addition, McLean is able to award privately funded, partial scholarships to some participants. Forms are available for both programs from the Director.
