Come live an independent life with the security that McLean is there when you need us.

McLean Village is a community specially designed for those who want to maintain a high level of independence. McLean Village is a cluster of dwellings in a private wooded setting on the McLean campus. The Village consists of cottages, apartments, and the beautiful Burkholder Community Center.

Rent a spacious apartment or cottage with the freedom to come and go as you please. Plus, you will have priority access to all of McLean's excellent healthcare and community programs. All this is possible, because the Village is part of the McLean continuum of care.

Healthy Living

Walk pathways within the 100-acre campus and garden by the cottages or in the greenhouse for those that enjoy the outdoors. Check your email on a computer in the Library in the Burkholder Community Center. Have your hair done in the Village Beauty/Barber Shop. Relax and exercise in the Virginia Darling Young Therapeutic Pool classes, open swim periods and a special time exclusively for Village occupants. Get together with neighbors for yoga and exercise classes, parties, as well as McLean van trips to shopping and cultural events. Use the Village fitness room whenever you wish. Play cards in the clubroom or work on a large jigsaw puzzle. You may also join the many Villagers who volunteer for McLean in the Health Center, in the Auxiliary gift shop, and deliver meal-on-wheels. Golf at nearby Simsbury Farms or lunch at Hop Meadow Country Club - a special privilege for Village residents. Worship in a local church or synagogue or attend interdenominational services in the Carling Chapel on campus and visit this quiet sanctuary for spiritual reflection whenever you wish.

Healthcare

You can choose to see the Village nurse bi-weekly. You have priority to contract with McLean Home Care if you need short-term skilled nursing or therapy or the regular help of an aide or a companion if it is appropriate for you to stay at home. You are welcome to be a client of McLean's excellent outpatient therapy department just across the path in the Health Center.

Rentals with no entrance fee

McLean cottages and apartments are rental units. No entrance fee is required. Only a security deposit is needed. And as you work on your budget, remember we pay all the property taxes, and you may have the funds from the sale of your home to invest which will increase your monthly income. As you age, you will pay only for additional McLean services if you need them.

Village Cottage fee includes: (27 units)

• Outside maintenance and grounds keeping
• Cluster design in a private wooded setting
• Individual outside storage
• Individual private patio or deck
• Fully equipped kitchen
• Barrier-free roll-in showers with grab bars
• Washer and dryer in each cottage
• Carports

Village Apartment fee includes: (48 units)

• Utilities, except telephone and cable television
• Fully equipped kitchen
• Washer and dryer in each apartment
• Gracious Dining - main meal included daily
• Coffee and Danish at the Coffee Corner
• Barrier-free roll in showers with grab bars
• Individually controlled heat and air conditioning
• Sprinkler system
• New apartments overlook Hop Meadow golf course
• Convenient parking for both residents and guests
• optional carport as available

Both cottages and apartments include wall-to-wall carpeting, drapes and blinds, full-sized appliances, wide doorways, and wide paved level walkways.
